David Knapp was born and raised in Tallmadge, Ohio playing soccer most of his life.  At age 14 he began playing semi-professional with the Cleveland Kickers competing in the U. S. Open Cup and Lake Erie premier division.

David was invited to train at the IMG Soccer Academy in Bradenton, Florida during his senior year of high school competing with the USA Men’s National Soccer Team.  From the Academy he traveled to Brazil, England, and Spain to train with some of the best professional clubs in the world such as Manchester United and Real Madrid.  His experience earned him a scholarship in the highest collegiate level in American soccer and he became a four-year letterman at Division I Xavier University where he attained a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management.

After College, Knapp gained professional training experience with the Cincinnati Excite in the AISL and served as the Training Coordinator for Xavier University.  For two years he was the President for United FC a non-profit soccer organization focusing on youth soccer development.  During that same time Knapp also served as the Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach for Lake Erie College.  In 2007 he was hired as the Director of Coaching for the Cleveland Whitecaps Premier Soccer Club which develops some of the most competitive teams in Ohio.  Most recently he was appointed to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s Associate Coaching Staff which focuses on soccer coaching education.
