Prelude to Performance: Preparing the Field
Emory & Henry recently completed construction of the first phase of the Fred Selfe Stadium, which honors a beloved athletic director and coach who died in 2002. The first phase of the $4.5 million project included the addition of artificial turf, lighting, a new scoreboard, a perimeter fence and an infield wall. The second phase, which will begin when pledges and gifts reach 75 percent of the goal, will include a large field house, enhanced seating areas, new ticket booths, and a new press box. The architectural rendering on this page illustrates what the stadium will look like when both phases are complete.
Pictured above is an architectural rendering of the Fred Selfe Stadium. The brick building toward the top of the images represents a vision for what will be the new field house.
The Fred Selfe Stadium is part of a $16.5 million Prelude to Performance Campaign that also includes the construction of a $12 million Center for the Arts. The campaign seeks to set the stage -- or prepare the field -- for greater performances in the arts and athletics and to provide energy to other important projects in the near future.
