GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Swimming Teams have seen four of their members named to the All-ODAC Teams, league officials announced Tuesday. Three from the women's team were honored while the Wasps saw the first man in program history earn all-league accolades.
The all-conference teams were determined by placement in events at the 2018 ODAC Swimming Championships. Those placing first or second in individual events earned first team distinction, while third- and fourth-place finishers were tabbed to the second team. The third team is comprised of fifth- and sixth-place swimmers.
Senior Bri Chessock (Winston-Salem, N.C.), senior Holly Roth (Albuquerque, N.M.) and sophomore Olivia Anson (Apex, N.C.) were named to the All-ODAC Second Team. Chessock was third in the 100-yard breaststroke while Roth took third in the 400-yard individual medley. Anson earned her spot on the team with a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle
On the men's side, sophomore Wilson Naff (Marion, Va.) was also named to the All-ODAC Second Team behind a pair of third-place finishes in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke.
Washington and Lee swept the women's individual awards with Emily Hageboeck taking ODAC Swimmer of the Meet and ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors. Mattie Grant was the ODAC Rookie of the Meet and Kami Gardner was tabbed as the ODAC Coach of the Year.
The Generals won all the men's individual awards as well with Tommy Thetford earning ODAC Swimmer of the Meet and ODAC/Virginia Farm Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year accolades. Patrick Sullivan brought home ODAC Rookie of the Meet honors while Gardner was also named ODAC Coach of the Year.
The Bonnie Kestner Sportsmanship Award went to Sarah Ahson from Sweet Briar College.
