EMORY, Va. (Feb. 23, 2010) -- Emory & Henry's top men's tennis player, Chip Wintringham, was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the Week after two straight-set victories in matches over the weekend.
A sophomore from Burlington, N.C., Wintringham led the Wasps to two team victories, a 9-0 decision over Greensboro College and a 9-0 victory over Ferrum College.
He defeated Clayton Hamilton of Greensboro College, 6-2, 6-2, before partnering with Mathew Nelson to top Hamilton and Zach Bruff 8-3 in doubles. Wintringham defeated Chris Miller of Ferrum College 6-2, 2-0 ret., before teaming up with Nelson to claim a 9-8 win over Miller and John Hartin in doubles.
The honor marks the second time in two seasons that Wintringham has received this ODAC honor.
