Men's Soccer Poised for Upcoming Season

The Emory & Henry men's soccer team lost six seniors to graduation in 2009, but the team is highly optimistic about the depth of its field thanks to talented returning players and an unusually strong pool of incoming first year athletes.

Because of an abundance of good players, "deciding the starting lineup and playing time in games will be tough decisions, but that is a great problem to have," said head men's soccer coach Travis Fravel.

Eric Olson will be the lone senior for the Wasps, having served as a three-year starter, and will assume the role of team captain.

Juniors P.J. Henson and Daniel Mills will assist Olson in leading the team along with sophomores Merrit Ford and Milos Jugovic. Henson led the team in goals last year, while also being selected as an All-Conference player as well as a member of the Academic All-Conference team.

"The leadership and talent of the upperclassmen mixed with one of the best men's soccer recruiting classes at Emory & Henry should lead to a successful 2009 season," Fravel said.
