Men's Soccer Notches 2 Wins Over Weekend

EMORY, Va. (Sept. 7, 2009) -- The Emory & Henry men’s soccer team scored a pair of close wins over the weekend, including a victory notched in double overtime.

 

Emory & Henry posted the two wins in a tournament hosted by the College. In addition to Emory & Henry, the tournament featured teams from Averett, LaGrange and Huntingdon.

 

On Saturday, the Wasps defeated Huntingdon College 3-2. Junior P.J. Henson scored the game-winner for Emory & Henry in the 81st minute.

 

Other goals were scored by Carter Bauman and Zak Jarrett. Erik Olson and Josh Stamey provided assists.

 

Henson again scored the game winner Sunday as Emory & Henry defeated LaGrange 4-3 in double overtime with 2:49 remaining. It was his second goal of the game.

 

Other goals came by way of Stamey and Manny Mendoza. Jarrett provided two assists while Henson, Brock Hanna and Milos Jugovic each contributed one.
