EMORY (Nov. 28, 2009) -- The Emory & Henry men’s basketball team put up a strong fight against the Generals of Washington and Lee University, but the Wasps failed to win its first conference game, falling 72-77.
After trailing much of the first half, the Wasps came out of the locker room after half-time looking like a much different team. They went on a 10-3 scoring run and lunged to a 46-32 lead. Senior Jarren Dyson stepped up and gave some senior leadership by quickly scoring the five out of the first 10 points of the half for the Wasps.
The Wasps held on to the lead for several minutes before the Generals started to edge back, closing the gap to three points with 10 minutes left. The Generals tied the game up late in the second half and took the lead with seven minutes left in the game.
The lead continued to change hands before the Generals went up six points with four minutes left in the game. The Wasps fought to stay close, but the Generals held them back until the end.
The Wasps move to 1-3 (0-1 ODAC) on the season and travel to Ferrum College Monday to take on the Panthers.
