Mike Caro is entering his first year as the Strength & Conditioning Coach at Emory & Henry College. Hired in the summer of 2017, Caro becomes just the second full-time strength & conditioning coach in E&H history.
Caro comes to Emory & Henry after spending the past three years as the head strength & conditioning coach at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky. During his time with the Pioneers, Caro was responsible for all aspects of the strength & conditioning program for 26 different teams while also managing the operations of the University's weight room.
Prior to his time at Transy, Caro spent a year and a half at a private performance training facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana as the head strength & conditioning coach. He was the director of performance for the Minnesota Junior Hockey League, directed performance training for a travel soccer club with more than 100 members and provided private coaching for a National Hockey League player.
Caro has also had stints in strength & conditioning at the University of Michigan, Portland (Oregon) State University and the University of La Verne (California). He is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the National Academy of Sports Medicine, the National Association of Speed & Explosion, USA Weightlifting and the American Red Cross.
A two-time NAIA Track & Field All-American, Caro was the 2003 National Champion and 2004 runner-up in the hammer throw at Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan. He still holds the school record in the event and was inducted into the SHU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014.
Caro graduated summa cum laude from Siena Heights in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in computer information systems. He earned his Master of Science degree in exercise science & health promotion from California University of Pennsylvania in 2013.
